Ioannis Panagopoulos graduated in 2002 from the Department of Natural Resources Management and Agricultural Engineering of the Agricultural University of Athens and in 2004 he received a postgraduate diploma in Water Resources Science and Technology from the National Technical University of Athens, where in 2010 he completed a doctoral thesis in Hydrology and Non-Point Pollution of Surface Waters. This was followed by postdoctoral research at the National Technical University of Athens (2011-2012), at the Center for Rural Development of the Iowa State University, USA (2012-2013), again at the National Technical University of Athens (2014-2018) and finally, at the Inland Waters Institute of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (2018-2022), on issues of agricultural water management and agricultural water pollution, management of aquatic ecosystems and development of infrastructure for the monitoring of the country’s inland waters. In 2022, he was appointed (Government Gazette 1094/9-5-2022, issue 3) at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is situated in the Laboratory of Hydraulics of the School of Agriculture on the campus of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
