Short CV Presentation

Dr. Evangelia Golia is Professor of Soil Science at the Department of Agriculture, School of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece.

She holds two degrees: a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a degree Integrated Master in Agricultural Science from the University of Thessaly.

She holds a PhD in Soil Science and a postgraduate diploma in Quality Assurance. Her scientific and research work is characterized by a strong interdisciplinary approach, integrating soil chemistry, environmental chemistry, and agricultural sciences.

Her research interests focus on soil contamination, environmental soil science, and soil–plant interactions, with particular emphasis on potentially toxic elements, remediation of contaminated soils, and phytoremediation. In recent years, her research has expanded to emerging pollutants, especially microplastics and nanoplastics, and their effects on soil health, crop development, and contaminant dynamics.

Professor Golia has participated in and coordinated national and European research projects and has supervised doctoral, postdoctoral, master’s, and undergraduate (diploma) theses in the fields of soil science and environmental contamination. She has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, delivering courses in soil science, soil chemistry, environmental chemistry, soil fertility, and soil pollution and remediation, and she actively participates in international academic collaborations. She has published more than 73 research articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals with an impact factor, over 70 papers in peer-reviewed international conference proceedings, and more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed national conferences. Her work has received more than 1,600 citations, and her h-index is 26 (details available in her full curriculum vitae and in the Scopus database).
