Zisis Vryzas is an Associate Professor at the School of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and head of the Pesticide Science Laboratory. He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Plant Protection), M.Sc., and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Pharmacology from AUTH. He previously has served as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor at the Department of Agricultural Development, Democritus University of Thrace. (2009–2023), progressing through all academic ranks.
His teaching focuses on Agricultural Pharmacology, Ecotoxicology, and Agroecosystem Pollution at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His research interests include the environmental fate and risk assessment of pesticides, analytical method development for residue analysis, remediation of contaminated waters, and interactions of pesticides with microorganisms and plants.
He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications (more than 2,700 citations, h-index 29, Scopus), delivered invited talks at international universities, and presented at over 70 scientific conferences. He has extensive experience as a reviewer and evaluator for scientific journals and research programs, and has served on national and international scientific committees (Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, IUPAC, SETAC). His work includes broad international collaborations through European and bilateral projects (Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, H.F.R.I., “Research–Create–Innovate”, EFSA) and research exchanges across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
