Professor Christos Vlachokostas is the Director of the Sustainability Engineering Laboratory (SEL) of the Energy Department, Professor and Head of the School if of Mechanical Engineering (AUT), Greece. He is also the President of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation (CIRI/AUT). He has been involved in numerous (more than 60) EU research projects dealing with Sustainable management of Energy Resources, Circular Economy and Environmental Management. He is teaching/has teached Sustainability Engineering, Waste Management and Circular Economy, Environmental Management, Management of Energy Resources, Heat Transfer. He was also a visiting Professor for “Energy Strategies and Climate Change” and “Sustainable Consumption and Production” at the International Hellenic University (MSc Environmental Management and Sustainability). He has supervised more than 100 Diploma and MSc Thesis and has co-authored more than 160 publications in peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings, books and media (h factor 31, more than 3550 citations). He was the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gas Distribution Company Thessaloniki-Thessalia S.A and a member of the Committee for the Evaluation of Inventions of the Industrial Property Organization. Among others, he was the Coordinator for the Restoration of Lake Koronia on behalf of the Greek Government, a member of the Green Fund Board of directors, a member of the Institute of Adult Continuing Education of the General Secretariat of Continuing Education, and the Vice President of the General Assembly of the Technical Chamber of Greece.
