Short CV Presentation

Thomas Tsovilis was born in Piraeus, Greece, in 1983. He received the M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. He held various managerial positions in the R&D department of Raycap Corporation at a global level, leading innovation in Surge Protective Devices. He was director of the High Current Labs of Raycap in Drama (2012-2015) and Ljubljana (2016-2018). In 2018 he joined AUTh, where he serves as an Associate Professor. He teaches four undergraduate and two postgraduate courses in High Voltage Engineering. He has coauthored more than 100 scientific publications in journals and conference proceedings, and he is the inventor of 9 international patents. He was awarded a Scholarship from Aristotle University Research Committee (2007). He is the recipient of the Myron Zucker Student-Faculty Grant Award from the IEEE Industry Applications Society in 2019 and 2022.
