Chrysoula Tananaki is Professor of Apiculture – Quality Assurance of Hive Products, at the School of Agriculture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), and Director and Quality Manager of the ISO/17025 accredited Laboratory of Apiculture – Sericulture of AUTH.
She is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of AUTH, holding a first MSc degree in Advanced Chemical Analysis and a second in Quality Assurance. She obtained her PhD and completed postdoctoral research in Apiculture at the Department of Agriculture of AUTH. She has received advanced training in instrumental analytical techniques for hive products and in sensory evaluation of honey at the University of Córdoba (Spain).
She has coordinated more than 30 research projects and participated in over 20 as a scientific collaborator. During her academic career, she has supervised sixteen master’s theses, six doctoral dissertations, and two postdoctoral studies related to apiculture and hive products. She has published more than 70 papers in internationally recognized scientific journals and has participated in national and international conferences with over 150 presentations. She also has extensive administrative and organizational experience, having served on the organizing committees of national and international conferences and as a member of national and international committees in the field of apiculture and hive products.
Her research interests focus on the investigation of the quality, safety, botanical and geographical origin, and biological activities of hive products using modern instrumental techniques, as well as on honey bee pathology, biology and nutrition, colony management, and bee flora.
