Assistant prof. He holds a Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Massachusetts, MA, USA, and a PhD from the same university in 2006. He then spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at Chalmers University, Sweden. Upon his return to Greece, he worked for 3 years at the Department of Food Technology, Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece, as a research and laboratory assistant. Subsequently, he worked for 4 years in the private sector where he gained extensive experience in analytical techniques such as LC, LCMSMS, ICP, ICPMS and GCMS. In 2018 he was elected as Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, AUTH, with specialisation in Food Engineering. Since 2019 he is the director of the Laboratory of Industrial Food and Agro-Industrial Technologies, and since 2020 he is also the head of the internship at the Department of Chemical Engineering, AUTH. His research interests include: functional foods, innovative food processes such as ultra-high pressure, 3D printing, extraction and drying processes, isolation of bioactive compounds from food industry by-products and the link between health and food.
