Michael Foumelis is a geologist-geophysicist specialising in imaging geodesy and geohazards. He is Associate Professor in the School of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). From 2017 to 2020 he was a researcher at the Risks and Prevention Unit at the French Geological Survey (BRGM). From 2014 to 2017 he worked as an EO scientist at the Science, Applications and Future Technologies Department of the European Space Agency (ESA). In 2012 he started a Post Doc at ESA-ESRIN focusing on developing SAR and InSAR products and services. During 2010 and 2011 he was an adjunct Lecturer in the Geography Department of the Harokopio University of Athens (HUA). He obtained his degree in Geology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He has received scholarships from NKUA and the General Secretariat of Research and Technology of Greece for postgraduate and doctoral studies. He has publications in scientific journals and international conference proceedings and participated in numerous research projects funded by national and international organizations. He has been invited to lecture in postgraduate and advanced training courses and has supervised students in several academic institutions.
