Dr. Andreas Mamolos is a professor of Ecology: Plant Ecology. He has published 66 scientific papers in international SCI journals and more than 100 papers in Greek journals and conference proceedings to date. There are more than 1600 references to his scientific work by other authors (h index=24, Scopus, year 2025). He has been a reviewer of many papers submitted for publication in internationally prestigious journals as well as research programs and scholarships submitted for funding. He has participated and was mainly responsible for research programs funded by national, European, and other bodies. He has been a member of the Organizing Committee and coordinator of international conferences. His work contributes to the achievement of several of the United Nations’ (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity (https://sdgs.un.org/goals). He has served as a member of the curriculum accreditation committees within the framework of ACQUIN and ENQUA. He has scientific collaborations with researchers from many universities in the USA, Europe and other countries. He has supervised a large number of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral theses. He has taught a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He has served as a member of DOATAP, the Research Ethics Committee (EIDE) of the University of the Aegean and the Organization and Operation Planning Committee of the University General Hospital of Thessaloniki “AHEPA”. He served as the Director of the Department of “Field Crops and Ecology” from 2014 to 2019. He served as a regular member and Vice-Head of the Committee for the creation, renaming, merger, and abolition of laboratories at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, following a proposal by the Senate. He is a member of the Ethics and Spatial Development Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Environmental Council of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. From May 2024 until today, he is Vice-Head of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from 26-07-2024 until today, he is Director of the Laboratory of “Ecology and Environmental Protection” of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from 2018 until today, he is Director of Postgraduate Studies Program “Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Climate Change” of the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and from 2024 until today, he is member of Coordinating Committee of Postgraduate Studies Program “Landscape Architecture” of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Ecosystem services and environmental, and social sustainability approaches in view of global increases in human consumption and population. Effects of human dominance on biodiversity evolution and conservation. Effects of climate change on ecosystem composition, diversity and functioning. Impacts of changing climate on agriculture and vice versa. Population ecology. Role of resource availability (nutrients and water) on plant competition. Role of AMF (Arbuscular Mycorrhiza Fungi) in nutrition and plant coexistence. Relationships of environmental factors affecting the distribution and abundance of plants. Recycling of matter and energy flows in natural and agricultural Mediterranean-type ecosystems. Assessment of energy inputs, outputs, carbon, and water footprint in agroecosystems
