Research Interests
Study of matter with spectroscopic techniques using mainly Synchrotron Radiation : XAFS (X-ray Absorption Fine Structure), XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron) spectrosocpies for the determination of structural, electronic and optical properties as well as for compositional analysis. Application of microspectrosocpy (XRF mapping in combination with μ-XAFS) for the study of inhomogeneous materials. SAXS (Small Angle X-ray Scattering) and Raman spectrosocpy. The research is focused in materials and biomolecules/tissues: Semiconductors (group III nitrides and Cu nitride), Si (oxy)nitrides, vitrified industrial wastes, nanoporous adsorbents for the removal of toxic elements from water, nanoparticles for biomedical applications, soft and keratinized tissues, biominerals and biopigments, palaeontological findings, structural proteins.
