Ioanna Vassileiadou received her B.A., M.A. and PhD from the Department of Archaeology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has participated in many research projects focusing on the excavations of ancient Dion (ARCHATOUR, ALEXANDER, OLYMPOS), in the excavation of which she has contributed for eighteen consecutive years and has unearthed urban public and private buildings as well as the Macedonian Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus. She has experience in projects with multimedia applications through the ALEXANDER project which focused on Greek cultural heritage of Greece-Macedonia. She is tutor for undergraduate courses at the Department of Archaeology. She has researched agriculture and daily life in ancient Greece and her thesis ‘Agricultural Life in Ancient Pieria’ has been very positively reviewed by P. Doukellis.
Her most recent research interests are related to ancient Amphipolis. She is a member of the scientific team publishing the archaeological material from the ancient gymnasium of the city, a member of a project team studying the site ” Koukles ” and a member of the interdisciplinary team set up this year to conduct geophysical survey in a southeast section of the ancient city, where there was probably the site of the ancient stadium of Amphipolis.
