Hara Charalambous is Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) since 2011. She graduated from the Department of Mathematics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1984 and completed her PhD thesis in 1990 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests are in Commutative Algebra. She was for several years at the State University of New York at Albany and visiting Professor at Brandeis and Columbia University. Her research has been funded by the NSF, the Pythagoras program, and the EDBM103 program. She has given talks at international conferences and workshops in the USA, Canada, France, Romania, Germany, Italy, France, Germany and Italy. She has >30 publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals with >400 citations, has participated with publications in proceedings of international conferences, has coauthored 6 textbooks and has edited a popular mathematics textbook. She is a member of the editorial team of the updated Bulletin of the Hellenic Mathematical Society. She has served as a member of the NSF committee for the evaluation of research proposals in the field of Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry and as a reviewer for prestigious international journals. She has co-organized international and national conferences in Mathematics and other workshops.

She served as the elected Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, and as Chair of the School of Mathematics, and other various positions.
