Dr. Dimitrios Platis is an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Ecology at the School of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a degree in Agricultural Sciences, a Master’s Degree, and a PhD, all awarded by the same School. He completed his doctoral dissertation with the distinction “Excellent” and with financial support from the Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation. His doctoral research focused on energy balances and greenhouse gas emissions in agro-silvo-pastoral ecosystems. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research as a recipient of an Excellence Scholarship from the Special Account for Research Funds of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, investigating agri-environmental indicators and their relationship with ecosystem services. He has teaching experience at the Faculty of Agriculture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of the International Hellenic University. He has also participated as a research associate in national and European research projects, including the Horizon 2020 BIOVALUE and SALSA projects, as well as in research activities addressing biodiversity, climate change, sustainable agriculture, and rangeland management. His scientific output includes articles published in peer-reviewed international journals, papers presented in the proceedings of international and national conferences, and scientific book chapters. His research interests focus on the sustainable management of agricultural resources, energy analysis, carbon and water footprints, ecosystem services, biodiversity, agroforestry, and the impacts of climate change on agricultural production.
