I am a Civil Engineer (5-year Diploma) with expertise in Hydraulic & Environmental Engineering; MSc in Coastal Engineering & Management; PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics for Wave Modelling and Coastal Processes. I have also worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the field of climate change impacts on the Mediterranean coastal zone.
I presently work as an Assistant Professor of Computational Fluid Mechanics at Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh) and as a Research Associate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in the framework of the LocAll4Flood project.
Research experience: I have been involved in 16 Greek- and EU-funded research projects since 2006.
My current work focuses on:
(a) numerical modeling of coastal flooding due to storm surges and waves, and coastal inundation due to sea level rise;
(b) numerical modeling and monitoring of hydrodynamics and seawater quality in the Mediterranean coastal areas;
(c) operational sea-state forecasts based on numerical modeling of waves, sea level elevation, currents, and storm surges for navigational purposes in ports and harbors;
(d) modeling and management of coastal hazards under the effects of climate change;
(e) numerical modeling of river hydraulics and management of flash floods.
