I am an experimental physicist specializing in ultrafast spintronics, nanomagnetism, magnetoplasmonics, condensed matter physics, X-ray scattering of advanced materials. By integrating advanced thin-film growth, nanofabrication, optical spectroscopy, structural and magnetic characterization techniques, I pursue an interdisciplinary research programme that bridges fundamental physics with emerging technologies for spintronic and THz devices.
Following the completion of my Ph.D. at the Department of Physics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), I joined the Free University of Berlin as a postdoctoral researcher before continuing my academic career at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University, Sweden, where I progressed through the positions of Researcher, Senior Researcher and Lecturer between 2008 and 2012. In 2012, I joined the internationally recognized research group of Prof. Burkard Hillebrands at TU Kaiserslatuern, Germany. From 2014 to 2019, after a competitive appointment, I served as Assistant Professor (Junior Professor, W1) and Head of the Spintronic and Spin-Plasmonic Junior Research Group within the Division of Magnetism. This position allowed me to establish my own research agenda, build an internationally visible research team and secure competitive external funding. In 2019, I was appointed to a permanent research position at the Institute of Physics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, following an international public competition. Since 2023, I have been serving as Associate Professor at the Department of Applied and Environmental Physics at AUTH, where I continue to expand my research programme while contributing extensively to teaching, mentoring and academic leadership.
